Police have arrested a man in connection to a serious sexual assault in Exeter. The incident took place at around 2am on Saturday 18 June at the Catacombs area of the city.

Police have now arrested a man in his 40’s from Exeter on suspicion of rape; he remains in police custody and awaits questioning.

Police enquiries are continuing, and detectives are still appealing for information from the public.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police via 101@dc.police.uk or by telephone on 101, quoting crime reference CR/053679/22.

The public are still likely to see an increased police presence in and around the area as enquiries continue into this matter.
