Appeal for witnesses At around 12.47pm, on Saturday 3 April, police were called to a report of a road traffic collision involving a car and pedestrian in Dawlish Street, Teignmouth.

Appeal for witnesses

At around 12.47pm, on Saturday 3 April, police were called to a report of a road traffic collision involving a car and pedestrian in Dawlish Street, Teignmouth.  

The female pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Next of kin have been informed. The road was closed whilst an examination of the scene was carried out.

Officers from the Roads Policing Team attended and are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the collision, saw either vehicle prior to it or have dash camera footage to contact police, quoting the log number 448 of 3 April 2021.

• Honiton-based Devon Freewheelers has introduced virtual talks during the Covid-19 pandemic for groups and organisations keen to learn about the work of the charity and its volunteers. 

  The virtual talks are in place of the visits by a Blood Bike volunteer, in a bid to continue highlighting the work of the charity throughout Devon to community groups, schools, businesses and other organisations.  The tailored talks, in return for a donation, have been proving a success with the charity’s supporters, while raising much-needed funds for the Devon Freewheelers. 

• DEVON: DEVON COUNTY ELECTIONS

  The full list of candidates who are standing for election to Devon County Council has been announced. Elections will take place for all 60 seats on Devon County Council on Thursday, May 6, with voters going to the polls to elect their representatives for the next four years. The entirety of the 60-strong council will be up for re-election, with 56 ‘single-member’ Electoral Divisions and 2 ‘two-member’ Divisions’. The current composition of the council consists of 41 Conservatives, 7 Labour, 6 Liberal Democrats, 3 Independents, 1 Green Party, 1 East Devon Alliance and 1 North Devon Liberal.

  Candidates from Labour, the Liberal Democrats and the Green Party are lining up to challenge Conservative Alison Hernandez who is seeking re-election as police and crime commissioner for Devon and Cornwall. The voting takes place across the two counties on Thursday, May 6, alongside elections for Cornwall and Devon councils, a third of the seats in Exeter and Plymouth, local council by-elections, parish and town councils and neighbourhood plan referendums.
