Property developer Akkeron Group, on behalf of South West Lifestyle Brands, is launching a public consultation of its plans to restore Exeter’s Grade II listed Royal Clarence, which occupies an important site facing Exeter Cathedral.

Proposals have been prepared following more than 12 months of detailed consultation with conservation architects, heritage consultants, Historic England, and Exeter City Council.

The £17 million scheme proposes to restore the historic buildings original façade and exterior and would retain as much of the building’s history as possible.

The new Royal Clarence would feature a collection of 23 luxury apartment and the ground floor would be accessible to visitors with a large restaurant, a bar to replace the Well House Pub, and two function rooms.

A Community Consultation on the plans is taking place from December 1st to 22nd 2021 and feedback from local residents, businesses and community groups is being sought to help to inform the proposals before a planning application and an application for Listed building consent are submitted to Exeter City Council in early 2022.

They would welcome your views on the proposals and invite you to take part in the consultation, either by visiting the interactive consultation website or by attending the public exhibition, to view the plans, ask questions of the project team and share your thoughts.

The website is available at www.royalclarenceconsultation.com featuring a Virtual Exhibition and a Feedback Form for any comments or questions for the project team, who will respond to you personally with an answer.

Feedback Forms can be submitted at any time until Wednesday 22nd December.
