In what was their third tasking this weekend, the volunteer crew of Exmouth RNLI were tasked to a report of a jetski in difficulty off Orcombe Point this evening.
At 5.40pm Sunday 21st May 2023, H.M. Coastguard tasked the volunteer crew of Exmouth RNLI relief inshore lifeboat D-792 Marie Theresa Bertha Barrass following a report that a black and white jetski was reported seen floating in the same location for a long period of time. The launch was authorised by Deputy Launch Authority, Hedley Saunders.
The inshore lifeboat launched at 5.47pm and immediately sped to the reported location. The lifeboat was crewed by Mark Cockman, Ed Steele and Matt Bragg who arrived at the scene within a few minutes
The rider of the jetski was seen and spoken to by the crew and it was quickly ascertained that he was not in difficulty, his vessel was in good working order and he required no assistance.
H.M. Coastguard stood down the lifesaving volunteers at 5.58pm today and the lifeboat was back on station ready for service a short time later.
Other RNLI volunteers involved in the launch were John Dinsdale, Ed Thomas, Chris Angell and Henry Thomas.
